Thank you for visiting Black Family Matters—a place dedicated to sharing the ongoing story of my sons, Roman and Gianni, and our fight for justice, love, and family.

Roman and Gianni are my heart. As their father, I’ve been blessed to watch them grow into beautiful, intelligent, and vibrant boys. But over the past few years, I’ve faced a heartbreaking challenge: a painful custody battle that has left me separated from them, fighting a system that is designed to keep Black fathers like me at a distance.

This site is dedicated to telling their story—our story—a story that is about so much more than just custody. It’s about the fight to protect Black families in the face of systemic racial bias. It’s about resisting the legacy of white supremacy that seeks to tear us apart, and reclaiming our rights as parents and our children’s rights to be raised with love and cultural identity.

For over two years, I have been engaged in a battle with the adoptive parents of my son’s mother, who currently have custody of Roman and Gianni. Despite my continuous efforts to be present in my boys’ lives, I’ve faced relentless barriers—visitation restrictions, , and, most recently, a complete suspension of all contact. Additionally, the boys have experienced an insurmountable amount of trauma both physically and psychologically.

It’s been since June 2024 since I’ve seen my children outside of their great great grandma‘s funeral that the judge ordered they attend . Every day that passes is another day stolen from our relationship, another day where Roman and Gianni are denied their right to grow up with their father.

This website is here to raise awareness about the injustice of our family’s separation. Roman and Gianni deserve better. They deserve a loving, stable home where they can thrive, free from the manipulation and emotional harm they’ve experienced. The current system, rooted in racial prejudice, is not designed to support Black fathers, and it certainly isn’t supporting what’s best for my children.

This Isn’t Just About Us—It’s About Every Black Family Fighting for Justice

The fight for Roman and Gianni is just one example of the broader struggle that Black families face. We are up against a system that too often disregards Black fathers and breaks Black families apart. This story, sadly, is not unique. But with your help, we can raise awareness, demand change, and make sure that Roman and Gianni’s story ends in reunion and justice.
